Strangers in Paradise, from the Ladybird team, transports guests to the beachside resorts of the late ‘80s
With the BeltLine running right behind it, Michael Lennox knew the concept would need to appeal to a daytime crowd, as well as evening. Called Strangers in Paradise, it transports guests back to the late 1980s and early 1990s, taking them to a resort bar, perhaps somewhere in South Florida. “We thought it’d be fun to play around with the resort drink universe, where people are trying to escape their day-to-day lives. These are juice-forward, colorful drinks,” he says.

Atlanta’s top-shelf new cocktail spots
The 1970s are back, and not just the rampant inflation. (Hey-o!) Also, crucially: the vibes. And the booze. In 2021, Colony Square welcomed the groovy disco-era cocktail lounge JoJo’s Beloved, and this year it’s joined in Midtown by the Waiting Room. The latter is from the folks behind the restaurant Bon Ton; in fact, it’s above Bon Ton, a second-floor redoubt in the eye-catching pink building on Myrtle Street. Decorated in red and pink shag, and boasting DJs and live music—even a piano—the Waiting Room was designed to have a warm, grown-up feel.

Popular BeltLine watering hole Ladybird Grove & Mess Hall launches a new bar-within-the-bar tomorrow. Called Ranger Station, the new cocktail bar is a spinoff of Ladybird, featuring its own food and beverage menus and a unique atmosphere.
