Our History:

Founded in 1925, Goodwill of North Georgia’s mission is a simple one – We put people to work.

Each day, we challenge ourselves to help jobseekers find a first job, a better job, and a career. When you donate your gently used items, shop in our stores, or give a financial contribution, we use those dollars to operate career centers and support job training and placement services.

Our Goals:

Over the next year, our goal is to place 21,500 jobseekers in meaningful employment. With a focus on providing career training in high demand industries, we project 81% of the jobseekers placed will be employed in working- or middle-class positions. For the fourth year in a row, Goodwill of North Georgia is the #1 Goodwill in the nation for putting people to work.

Our Services:

We knock down barriers for people with disabilities, veterans, people receiving public benefits, returning citizens, non-custodial parents, senior citizens, justice involved youth, and people experiencing homelessness. Goodwill of North Georgia provides career training in high-demand fields, job placement services, and job retention support at zero cost to the jobseeker.

At our 14 career centers, Goodwill provides free access to job search resources including computers, résumé writing tools, job listings, employment seminars, and software training. Jobseekers have access to a job coach and career training in high-demand industries including IT, cyber security, phlebotomy, medical billing & coding, cyber security, construction, forklift, floor technology, custodial, logistics, supply chain, and much more.

Our Impact on the Community

Over the last 5 years, we have moved 40,000 Georgia families out of poverty into living wage jobs. The majority of our jobseekers moved from being tax recipients to taxpayers and experience the dignity and power of work. A recent study of Goodwill graduates showed the following results:

453% increase in taxes paid
600% increase in pre-tax annual earnings
68% annual decrease in SNAP and TANF benefits.

Thrifting at Goodwill of North Georgia isn’t just an affordable option, but it also helps stop waste. When you shop and donate at Goodwill, you’re reducing the number of items being sent to a landfill. In fiscal year 2023 , we diverted over 42 million pounds of materials from landfills.
