More than 50 years in, the Clermont Lounge is definitely worse for the wear—which makes it that much better. Complain all you want about the hipster hordes; the Lounge—with its duct-taped bar, unconventional strippers (including the infamous, beer can–crushing Blondie), and $3.50 PBRs—endures as a stubborn piece of authenticity in a world gone plastic. Don’t let the chic and stylish renovation of the upstairs boutique hotel fool you. This will forever be the realest, weirdest, wildest place on Ponce.
