Arcade-themed bars may have surged in popularity in recent years, but when Joystick opened its doors (and its Mrs. Pac-Man machine) to Edgewood Avenue in 2012, it was a revelation. Joystick is still going strong as a self-identified “nerdy dive bar,” complete with such classics of the old-school arcade genre as Galaga, Mortal Kombat, and Space Invaders for only 25 cents a game—made all the more enjoyable with the bar’s boozy slushies, picklebacks, and cans of local craft beer. 427 Edgewood Avenue, 404-525-3002, joystickgamebar.com
