ABOUT PINEWOOD FOREST: Pinewood Forest aims to create a sustainable hometown that serves, lifts, and influences for good those who create and influence our culture. Given our unique location directly adjacent to Pinewood Atlanta Studios, we are inspired and challenged to create a town that delights, beckons, and meets the needs of the professional creatives, storytellers, artists, and makers that are part of the film-making ecosystem. Drawing on the best ideas in New Urbanism, place-making, and research on human flourishing, we are creating a town unlike any other. We are determined to cluster the creative class, be racially, economically, and religiously diverse, authentic to this time and place in the world, better in 100 years, and ultimately helps everyone thrive by creating a replicable model for better living. ABOUT THE BENEFICIARY: The Pinewood Forest Idea Home will benefit The Forest School, a 21st– century micro-school with learner-driven technology, hands-on projects, and real-world apprenticeships in an intentionally diverse and character-forging community. All proceeds from the Idea Home will fund student scholarships. The Forest School, which serves learners in grades 1-12, is a part of a growing network of Acton Academy Schools worldwide that are building on the success of the original Acton Academy in Austin, Texas. The school has a unique and empowering approach to learning, with ‘Socratic Guides’ rather than teachers, mixed-age studios rather than classrooms, portfolios and exhibitions rather than grades, contracts and covenants rather than rules, e-learning and apprenticeships rather than lectures, and no homework. The school’s mission is that each person who enters it will find a calling that changes the world. The Forest School, co-founded by Tyler and Joy Thigpen, is in the Pinewood Forest community and will serve elementary and middle school students this year. It is now accepting applications for its high school, which launches fall 2019.

ABOUT THE DESIGN TEAM

BRECKYN ALEXANDER
Interior designer, Breckyn Alexander, launched BMA Designs in 2010 and has since been transforming homes across the Southeast with her signature style: layers of textiles and natural materials that combine for a soothing yet sophisticated look. Alexander’s unique global-meets-sustainable aesthetic is also accessible via her thoughtfully curated online interiors shop, BMA at Home, which has shipped to over 150 cities nationwide. She will soon be taking BMA on the road with a series of pop-up shops throughout the Southeast. Alexander’s work has been featured in Atlanta Magazine’s HOME and Better Homes & Gardens.

DANA LYNCH DESIGN
Having been featured in a number of regional show homes and publications, Dana Lynch Design has emerged as a sought-after creative team. Her eponymous design firm specializes in partnering with clients during the design and build process to anticipate construction issues and successfully execute complex design features in high-end custom homes. Dana cultivates deep personal relationships with talented artisans who understand her vision and bring unique talent and authentic materials into her projects. These collaborations result in exclusive designs and fabrication that addresses unique challenges of her clients and provides a client-tailored aesthetic to each of the firm’s projects. DLD strives to push the design aesthetic forward in lieu of repetition of what has been done or following trends. Her design philosophy is centered around the tension created by the juxtaposition of opposites to activate space. Their detailed, intimate, and thorough design process results in the execution of a shared vision in a meaningful way for even the most discerning homeowners with a strong point of view.

DLD’s developer services division, Bspok, dismantled and rebuilt the semi-custom home design process to create a completely new approach to the homeowner experience and developer-led design. Through its proprietary software and unique processes, Bspok brings DLD style and custom products to hundreds of homes in innovative neighborhoods without losing the individual attention and personal service new homeowners desire.

JENNIFER SCHOENBERGER & LINDSEY HENE
Lindsey and Jennifer’s friendship began, ironically, in an antique store in 2013. Both working in their own successful interior design businesses, they shared a love of similar style, quality, and unique ideas. After almost 20 years of combined experience, the decision to merge their businesses into Elle + Vreeland Design House has been a delight to both of the designers and their clients. Jennifer has been creating cozy, unexpected, classic homes for a loyal client base throughout the Southeast and Midwest. Lindsey’s signature ability to grasp the unique style of each client and create livable, elegant interiors sets her apart along with her ability to balance color, texture, and bold embrace of pattern.

MONICA STEWART
Monica Stewart graduated from the University of Georgia with a BSED in Communication Sciences and Disorders. While she enjoyed her undergraduate studies, she still felt she wasn’t pursuing her true passion. After 10 years of marriage, 7 different houses, and 3 children, she finally figured it out. Taking note of her mother’s creativity within each of her childhood homes, Monica realized that interior design completed the desire to find balance in her life. She approaches each project with a source of sentiment and inspiration, always striving to create a timeless space that is both meaningful and authentic. Monica and her family reside in Athens, Ga. where she continues to be inspired by the unique culture and surrounding artists.

SHERRY HART
Sherry Hart is an interior designer based in Atlanta, Ga. She is also the author of the blog Design and Indulgence. Since 2010, Sherry has used this platform to share design projects, as well as tell stories of her life and travels. After a 20 year stint as a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines, and then a second career in the fitness industry, interior design took over her life in the early ‘90s. It started with buy, renovating, and decorating a house in 1992 here in Atlanta. After that, she was hooked. She then briefly worked for a local designer to try and learn everything she could.

Sherry has had work featured in many publications, including Better Homes and Gardens, Kitchens and Baths, Atlanta Magazine’s HOME, Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles, and, most recently, Southern Homes Magazine. A few turning points in her career have been working with builder Michael Ladisic on his personal home and working with Matthew Quinn from Design Galleria on the House Beautiful Kitchen of the Year.

JASON MITCHELL
After pursuing a love of aviation for over 10 years as a flight attendant, Jason Mitchell studied design, art, and fashion at Bauder College in Atlanta, Ga. This training was just the beginning of a lifelong passion and appreciation for design, which led him to start J Ansel Designs in 2005. Mitchell specializes in both residential and commercial design, with an aesthetic best described as transitional with a modern edge. With an eye for for detail and a focus on creating spaces that look curated and collected, he understands his clients and the way they utilize their spaces, creating results that reflect his evolving sense of style and eye for beauty. For both small and large projects, from initial planning to the final installation, timeless design is key. For Mitchell, design is more than an aesthetic; its a lifestyle.

 JULIE HOLLOWAY
Julie Holloway began her design career almost ten years ago, and she feels that this vocation chose her instead of the other way around. Holloway is a self-taught designer and realized her passion while serially renovating three of her family’s homes. She loves all aspects of design: custom homes, spec homes, renovations, decorating, and staging. She was an inaugural member of Southern Living’s Designer Network, and her work has been featured in Better Homes and Gardens, HGTV, Modern Farmhouse magazine, Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles, and more. She lives in Roswell with her husband and two sons.

NIKIE BARFIELD
Nikie Barfield believes our surroundings have a profound impact on our mood, productivity and well being in general, so it is essential to be thoughtful in creating an environment that nurtures all of the above. She realized design was the path for her in 2007 when she was first published for her design work and realized that she could and should do what she loves. Soon after, she made a career change from practicing law to decorating.
