Atlanta Magazine's HOME introduces Modern Style, a pair of contemporary showhouses alongside the Atlanta BeltLine's Eastside Trail and Historic Fourth Ward Park. Showcasing the latest trends and new ideas in modern design, furnishings, and fixtures, these cutting-edge homes will spark inspiration from the city's top designers.

Visitors to the showhouses may enjoy an abundance of dining, shopping, and attractions a short distance from the homes in charming Old Fourth Ward.

These showhouses are not recommended for children under the age of 12 and is not handicap accessible.

Beneficiary: The Junior League of Atlanta
Members of the Junior League of Atlanta (JLA) will serve as docents during tours for the Modern Style showhouses. This organization of women is committed to making lasting transformations in the Atlanta community. Its 100-year legacy of leadership is built on its ability to train leaders to tackle tough issues impacting women and children. With more than 3,400 members, JLA offers unparalleled opportunities for training and leadership development and provides a foundation for the growth of each member as they take their experiences and learning and apply them in their daily lives, their careers, and the community. JLA is a place where its members can serve, lead, and be empowered.

Meet the Designers
Vickie Kirbo
Style consultant and Atlanta native Vickie Kirbo spruced up the master closets with clothes, bags, and accessories from Tootsies and her own collection. She shops and styles looks for her clients, organizes closets, and runs a fashion blog, Kirb Your Style.
Cameron Watkins
Landscape designer Cameron Watkins created stunning arrangements for the interior spaces and patios in 715 Ralph McGill, including a living wall in the master bath, and a green retreat on the second floor balcony.
Julie Dewald and Sandra Pawliger
Julie Dewald and Sandra Pawliger, the retail market manager and a design associate a brand liason for Room & Board, respectively, created a relaxing roofdeck space for 715 Ralph McGill.
Zeb Grant
Zeb Grant, a Clarksville, Georgia native, honed his eye for classic and classically-modern design in his proper Southern upbringing along with its storied architecture and rich cuisine.
Mark Williams and Niki Papadopoulos
Niki Papadopoulos was Mark Williams's intern in 2004; now, she's his business partner. Together, they believe that "good design can be executed in any style—whatever style the homeowner brings to table," says Williams of their philosophy.
Meghan and Patrick Sharp
The pale blush-colored velvet drapes are about as much color as you'll get out of husband-and-wife design team Meghan and Patrick Sharp.
Michel Boyd
Michel Smith Boyd can walk to Ashley Point from his own home. "I'm actually adding value to my neighborhood," he says. "I love the idea of that."
Kate Hayes
"Context is important," says Kate Hayes, who designed this entryway and parlor. "The Old Fourth Ward is an interesting neighborhood, because you have these modern homes being built, but it's a neighborhood with rich history that's important to acknowledge."
Justin Q. Williams
Since the house already features two bedrooms, Justin Williams decided to transform the third bedroom into a home office.
Julie Witzel
Julie Witzel worked as a botanist at California State University in Los Angeles before becoming an interior designer, but the career switch doesn't mean she's left her love of nature behind.
Builder: Intown Builders, LLC
Intown Builders have built/renovated several hundred homes over their combined 50 years in the real estate industry. Their experience ranges from kitchen and basement renovations to complete subdivision development, all with a distinctive urban feel. Clients include home buyers, commercial property owners, not-for-profit organizations, and financial institutions. Architect: Xmetrical
In early 2009, Jordache K. Avery founded Xmetrical, LLC on the belief that our cities are the museums of our culture and that in order tell the story of our lives, we need to build the architecture of our time. Because of this simple concept and where feasible and appropriate, Jordache has consistently pushed for a more progressive design approach. His modern homes have been featured on multiple home tours, and his work has been published extensively in print and digital media. Atlanta Design Festival
Now in its 12th year, the Atlanta Design Festival, the Southeast’s largest contemporary design event of its kind, returns to the city from May 26 to June 3, 2018. This year’s festival is made up of exhibitions and panel discussions (“What is Modern Architecture Today?” and “The Economic Impact of Design in Atlanta” stand out) as well as architecture tours—featuring our own Modern Style showhouses at Ashley Point as well as nine other residential and two commercial projects across the city, with satellite tours in Asheville and at Serenbe.
